Hi, I’m Jonathan Schaepper

Welcome to Jo Knows Golf. I have been in the golf industry my entire life. I graduated from The Golf Academy of the South in 1996 and headed for Europe. I spent 9 years teaching and playing professionally in Switzerland. In 2005 my wife Shari and I purchased the Mountain Creek Golf Course in the Ottawa Valley. We sold the course in 2023 and now I’ve come full circle and have time to pursue my passion of teaching the game of golf to players of all levels. Currently I offer lessons at Mountain Creek, The Kenwood Athletic Club and Silverwood’s. New for 2024/25, I am offering golf holidays to Portugal and Morocco during our winter months.

My Approach

The golf swing is very individual. One size does not always fit all. There are laws that must be followed in order to build a repeatable swing. Once these laws are understood there are many preferences that are available to suit the abilities and capabilities of the various golfers. I prefer to learn how to walk before teaching to run. In golf this means starting by the hole and working our way back towards the tee box. The order of learning is chip, pitch, 1/2 swing, full swing and ending with specialty shots.
